Guardian and Wards Act
The Guardian and Wards Act is related to the guardianship and welfare of the minor child. The Guardian and Wards Act has application to the whole of Pakistan. The Guardian and Wards Act defines the minor, the guardian, and the persons who can apply for the guardianship of minor. The District Judge in whose jurisdiction minor is ordinarily resides has the jurisdiction to try the matters under the Guardian and Wards Act. While appointing a guardian of any kind the court shall consider the welfare of a minor. The Court may appoint one or more guardians of a person and property as it thinks fit. The jurisdiction of the Court has been barred in certain cases to appoint guardians under Section 19 of this Act. A guardian can be removed or proceeding can be initiated against him under the Act. The law of guardianship in Pakistan is governed by the Guardians and Wards Act, of 1890.
